New Scouts are welcome all year. Visit a meeting, then fill out our sign-up form.
Who can join
Youth ages 11 to 17 can join Scouts BSA. You can also join at 10 if you have earned the Arrow of Light or finished 5th grade. No Scouting experience is needed.
What a first visit looks like
- Come to any Tuesday meeting at 7:00 PM at Basecamp Community Hall. You do not need to call ahead.
- Wear regular clothes. Nobody expects a uniform on your first night.
- An older Scout will welcome you and bring you into a patrol for the evening.
- Parents are welcome to stay, meet the leaders, and ask questions.
Steps to join
- Visit a Tuesday meeting. Every Tuesday, 7:00 PM, Basecamp Community Hall, 8848 Summit Road.
- Fill out the sign-up form. Use the Sign Up button on this page. It takes a few minutes.
- Register with Scouting America. A leader will help you complete the youth application.
- Get your handbook and uniform. Both are available at the Scout Shop.
- Go on your first campout. It is the fastest way to make friends and start on your first rank.
