Scout Leadership

Scouts Lead Troop 8848

Youth leaders are chosen for a term of about six months. Serving in a position of responsibility is also a requirement for the Star, Life and Eagle ranks.

Senior Patrol Leader SPL

Leads the whole troop. Runs meetings and the Patrol Leaders' Council, and is the troop's main link to the Scoutmaster.

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader ASPL

Backs up the SPL and takes charge when the SPL is away. Often oversees the other youth officers.

Patrol Leader PL

Leads a patrol at meetings and outings, and speaks for the patrol at the PLC.

Assistant Patrol Leader APL

Helps the Patrol Leader and steps in when needed.

Troop Guide TG

Mentors new Scouts and helps them reach First Class.

Scribe

Keeps notes at PLC meetings and tracks attendance.

Quartermaster QM

Keeps track of troop gear, checks it out for campouts, and makes sure it comes back clean.

Instructor

Teaches a Scout skill such as first aid, knots, or navigation.

Historian

Collects photos and stories that record the troop's history.

Librarian

Looks after the troop's books, merit badge pamphlets, and maps.

Chaplain Aide

Leads reflections and helps the troop respect every Scout's faith.

Outdoor Ethics Guide

Teaches Leave No Trace and helps the troop care for the places it camps.

Den Chief

Helps a Cub Scout den and gives younger Scouts a look at what comes next.

Order of the Arrow Representative

Connects the troop with the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's honor society.
